Here we go: I submitted my PhD thesis! Hooray! It’s been three years, and now the thesis just has to be mailed to the examiners. It has been quite a journey, and now it’s almost over. Three years – full of excitement, knowledge, and, of course, work. I’ve been to the Government Department of the London School of Economics and Political Science for six months, and I attended a few conferences. Also, the people in my home institution, the Center for the Study of Democracy at the Leuphana University Lüneburg, have made it all worthwhile, as well as others I met on the way. Thank you, everyone – I wouldn’t have missed it for the world.
‘It’s all still a bit blurry to me’ – I’ve always thought this phrase was complete nonsense. But then again, here I am, thinking the exact same thing. It can’t be over, can it?! Well, indeed it isn’t, because there’s still the viva to look forward to, in which I will defend my thesis. Also, there are still a lot of books lying around which have to find their way back to the library… nevertheless, the next step is waiting.
I started this weblog as a “PhD student to be”, and now I am a “post doc to be” – and that’s pretty awesome. I will keep you posted.
